DO-IT-YOURSELF QUOTES

sales@coloradoglassandshower.com

At Colorado Glass and Shower we can give you a quote with only information that you have provided to us via email. No more taking time off from work to wait around for our technicians to show up and get the measurements. You can get a quote and decide if you want to continue the process and have us come out and get a final measurement* for ordering.

It doesn't matter if you want us to quote for window repair, shower enclosure, or any other glass needs.

*In some instances (not all) we can measure windows from the outside without you needing to be home.

It's easy and we will walk you through the process so that you can get us the most relevant info for the most accurate quote.

Shower Quote:

All we need is rough sizes* and and layout for the shower quote, as we will take a final measurement before anything is ordered. Please send us any & all drawings, blueprints, and pictures that you may have, even a sketch drawn out on a napkin will suffice.

Shower Type: Frameless, Simi-Frameless, Slider, etc.  Please see the Shower Enclosures page for a full list

Finished Layout: See pictures below for ideas. We are not limited to those designs, but they are some of the more common choices.

Finished Height: From the curb to the height of the shower head stem protruding from the wall is what we recommend for a non-steamer shower, or the next highest grout line in the tile facade.

Glass Thickness: 1/4", 3/8", or 1/2"

Glass Type: Clear, Starphire, Rain, Satin Etch, or Tinted etc. (See Below)

Hardware Color: Please see the Shower Enclosures page for a more complete list of colors

(*Rough Sizes should be or exceed finished sizing)

Window/Glass Replacement Quote:

Multi-pane glass, double or triple pane Insulated Glass Units are factory sealed at the point of manufacture and as such we can NOT replace only one pane on these style of windows.

Window glass replacement will require a few pictures per window to assist us in pricing.

The pictures help us determine how accessible the glass/window is, what kind of equipment is needed to access the glass/window, what kind of window or window set it is, etc.

Many email clients do not allow for large amounts of pictures per email, and we understand that, you can send us multiple emails or you can use your phone's photo app to create a shared album to allow us to see the photos as well.

Needed Pictures (see examples below):

Inside & Outside FAR SHOTS: this allows us to see the whole window and how accessible it is;  if your glass has grid bars/muntins on or inside of them; and what shape the window glass is.

Inside & Outside CLOSE SHOTS: this allows us to see how the glass is set within the window itself.

Measurements (see examples below):

From one edge of the visible glass to the other edge is what we call the "daylight opening"

We need the widest daylight opening measurement and the tallest daylight opening measurement as well as the FAR SHOT pictures to make a more accurate assessment of the shape and size of the window/glass.

If you are not comfortable reading a tape measure, you can always take a picture of the tape at the edge of the daylight opening and send us that as well, or you can round up to the nearest inch.

Low-E Coatings:

Most (Not all) widows have a coating on them to reduce amount of UV light that gets in to the house and causes fading of materials on the inside. Low-E (low-emissivity) glass features a microscopically thin, transparent coating—often layers of silver oxide—that reflects heat, reducing ultraviolet light while allowing visible light to pass through. It drastically improves energy efficiency by keeping homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer, lowering utility bills and preventing furniture from fading. Seal Failure is noticeably worse with a Low-E coat as the coating creates hard to see-through patterns on the glass, while clear glass just has moisture build up on the inside.

If it is unknown if you have this coating on your glass, we will quote you for a standard 2 layer Low-E on your double/multi pane glass. We can also quote you for a stronger(3 & 4 layers) Low-E if that is something that you would like as well.

Tinted Glass:

Window film causes glass to fail and break faster than with no film. Film also voids any & all glass warranties. Film is also harder to clean due to its sensitive nature. If at the time of replacement you would like, we can quote for different levels of tinted interior glass on multi-pane units. This glass does not scratch or tear like film, does not have special cleaning instructions, and in some cases we can come close(not perfectly) to matching the older film in light transmission values.

Internal Grid Bars:

Internal grid bars have an aesthetic that some homeowners want. There are some homeowners that do not like the grids as well. Let us know if we should keep the grids in the glass in your email and we will price per your choice.

Simulated Divided Lites-SDL's:

These are windows that have internal grid bars and external Muntins glued to the inside and outside face of the glass. These types of windows carry more labor to replace them as we have to carefully cut the muntins off before we can take the old glass out, then we have to clean-up and reapply new adhesive to the muntins before we realign and reinstall them. Let us know if we should keep the SDL's with the glass in your email and we will price per your choice.

After receiving your quote from us, feel free to come and see us and talk about the options that we can get you, and see our in-shop samples, so that you are making the most informed choice for your money.
